

Manage the day-to-day operations of the NJHS and lead the NJHS staff.O Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with JFO policy. O Provide coaching and mentorship to staff. O Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations. O Oversee the day-to-day workflow of the department. O Recruit, interview, hire, and train staff within the department.

Manage staff including, but not limited to:.The incumbent is responsible for carrying out the mission of the NJHS which is to help assure the collection, preservation, protection, and promotion of the history of the Jewish family heritage including business and social histories of the Jewish Communities of Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa. The Executive Director is the management and development officer of the Nebraska Jewish Historical Society (NJHS) which is an agency of the Jewish Federation of Omaha, a non-profit 501c3 organization.

Person must be able to supervise and work with volunteers.Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing to communicate with staff, visitors, and volunteers.Requires 1-2 years of work experience to acquire the knowledge of gardening and flowerbed care, along with heritage plants pertaining to Nebraska in the 1890’s.Ability to understand and follow directions, acquired by completing high school and some vocational training.Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Train and work with the Interpretive Staff and Volunteers as available, for assistance with watering, weeding and clean-up.Responsible for several areas in Railroad Town and at the cabin sites.Always planning for the next season’s needs. Responsible for plant selection and design of the beds, keeping in mind the need to fit in with the museum’s historical mission.
